About Me
My name is Morag Mellor, I paint under my nickname Mogs. My studio has an eclectic mix as I enjoy experimenting with styles and mediums. I get inspired by something I see and then have a go at painting it. I love to capture the light on the hills and the sea, and also the wonderful skies and sunsets we get here on the west.
I have a lot of new works in my studio this year - seasonal flowers in silver jugs, hydrangeas, fun experiments of cats and dogs and more of my classic Scottish seascapes. We are fortunate to have many beautiful beaches and islands surrounding us which gives me the most joy to capture with my brush.
I have always had a passion for art. I read History of Art at the University of Edinburgh, graduating with an MA in 1980. I am a grandmother of five and I live with my husband Jamie on our farm where my studio is located. For a long time I was lovingly referred to as the "other person" who helps on the farm. More recently Jamie has help from Niall and Blair so I have been able to step back from physical day-to-day and dedicate more time to painting.
